Visiting Artist Workshops

Visiting Artist Workshops at Spruill Center for the Arts bring artists from across the country to teach 1-2 day workshops at our facilities, allowing our students to learn from artists who are not regular Spruill instructors and providing opportunities to hear new artistic perspectives.

Through the Visiting Artist Workshop series, Spruill students have had the opportunity to hear from artists across the United States, including…

  • George McCauley, a Montana-based & internationally recognized ceramicist whose work has appeared in 400 exhibitions and is included in international collections in 12 different countries
  • Dustin Cecil, a Kentucky-based fiber arts and textiles artist who practices the art of traditional broom-making
  • Hollie Chastian, a Tennessee-based mixed media artist whose collages have been exhibited across the country and are included in collections at home and abroad

Upcoming Visiting Artist Workshops:

Surface Design with Delvin Goode | Saturday, December 6 (10 AM – 4 PM)

Speedball artist and U.S. Army veteran Delvin Goode is coming to Spruill to teach us about how to decorate ceramic pieces with graphic design. You’ll learn to work with vector images, print vinyl stencils, and layer Speedball underglazes and glazes to produce bold surfaces.

A working artist and Ceramics Product Marketing Manager for Speedball Art Company, Delvin Goode is a self-described pop artist who combines graphic design, stencils, and air brushes to create unique, bold ceramic pieces. Goode is also a U.S. Army veteran and former UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter pilot who was able to combine his artistic practice with his military service creating unit branding, painting murals, and designing a monument for fallen soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas.
