How long have you been teaching at Spruill?  I have been involved in the Spruill Arts Community for over 10 years. In 2012, after having been a long time student and taking a variety of metalsmithing classes, I summoned the courage to ask the Education Director if I could interview to become a jewelry instructor. With my background in education and arts it seemed like a natural fit. I will never forget my first night of teaching at Spruill, I was so thrilled! From then I taught a week long jewelry camp during Spruill’s summer camp program and soon after was hired as the Summer Camp Director. I love being part of such an amazing arts community!

What classes do you teach?  I teach a variety of Mixed Media Jewelry Design classes: Bezel Making, Rocking Rings, Gypsy Bangles, Resin 101, Wire Wrapping, Stamping on Metal, Chainmaille, Resin Clay, Decorative Soldering, and more!

Best part about teaching at Spruill?  I just love belonging to such an amazing art community!  Every time I teach a class, I learn something new from my students, they make me laugh, and I’m always reminded why I love making jewelry.

Do you have any pets?  We have a Jack Russell rescue named Maggie.

Where did you grow up?  I’m a small town girl who had big city plans! I grew up in the middle of cornfield country in Coal Valley, Illinois.

Favorite Artist? Or biggest inspiration?  My biggest inspiration is nature! I just love being outside, especially in the Spring and Fall here in Atlanta. The weather is amazing and the colorful landscape is so beautiful.

Guilty pleasure?  When my husband travels for work, I look forward to staying up late at night binge watching Netflix with a bowl of popcorn! Shh, don’t tell him.

What are you currently reading or binge watching?  I’m currently reading “A Gentleman in Moscow”.  I’d highly recommend it, Amor Towles is an amazing writer with an incredible talent for bringing his characters to life.

If you could be any age for a week, what age would that be and why?  I would want to be 20 years old again so that I could spend one more week with my dad ♥

Glass half full or half empty? Or is the glass just malformed?  Right now my glass is really malformed but it’s always half full. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become much more grateful for what I have in my life, I’m one very lucky girl.

What is your perfect pizza?  The best pizza on the planet, hands down, is a deep dish sausage and spinach pizza (with a side of ranch dressing) from Pizzeria Due on Wabash Ave in Chicago! Delish!
