Preternatural & Under Construction
Exhibition Dates: September 19 – October 30, 2025
Preternatural explores themes related to humanity’s relationship with the natural world through works by Pam Longobardi and Dana Montlack – both accomplished environmental artists. Longobardi, an international artist, is a recipient of the coveted Hudgens prize and is recognized globally for her work on the Drifters Project, through which she collects ocean and seashore plastic for use in artistic sculptures and installations. A renowned artist in her own right, Montlack’s work explores similar environmental themes, and her art has been displayed across the country and alongside the iconic Burning Man festival.
Alongside Preternatural is an installation sculpture by Atlanta artist Noah Reyes entitled Under Construction. Drawing from a background in construction, Reyes creates a custom-built structure within the gallery, exploring the concept of constructed environments and their creation.
Pam Longobardi
Atlanta-based, international artist Pam Longobardi is a multimedia artist whose work involves painting, photography, and installation to address the psychological relationship between humans and the natural world. Her ongoing Drifters Project, featured in National Geographic magazine, provides her opportunities to follow the world’s ocean currents and to collect, document, and transform oceanic plastic into installations, public art, and photography.
Longobardi’s work is exhibited throughout the US and internationally.
Longobardi serves on the faculty at Georgia State University. She is a Regents’ Professor and Distinguished Professor of Art. She is represented in Atlanta by Sandler Hudson Gallery.
Dana Montlack
Biospheric artist and researcher Dana Montlack uses a unique layering process to combine art and science — utilizing drawings, maps, photos, and data to create art that speaks to environmental topics and phenomena. Her art is exhibited internationally in galleries, museums, and universities.
Montlack’s visual art practice provides her with opportunities to work side by side with researchers. In 2022, she received a grant from the University of Georgia to explore and visually document the ways in which Georgia’s coastlines have been impacted by climate change — a project funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Montlack also serves as a professor of Visual Arts and Contemporary Art History at Georgia State University.
Noah Reyes
Atlanta-based artist Noah Reyes exhibits at various spaces across the American southeast – the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Zeitgeist Gallery, and Westobou. They have spoken at Georgia State University, the University of Georgia, and Atlanta Contemporary for their work as an artist and curator.
According to Noah’s bio, “[t]heir work plays with words and symbols to craft a slippage of meaning about where they come from and where they are. Touching upon a history we are a part of, but cannot fully define, Noah aims to bridge connections between people and cultures to shape a more empathetic and nurturing future.”
In addition to their art, Noah works and sometimes writes for Art Papers, Burnaway, and IMPACT Magazine. They serve on the board of directors of creative writing nonprofit Lost in the Letters.
