EngageART with (Emma)nuelle Chammah and Rial Rye, January 16 – February 21, 2025. Engage with these interactive Fine Art works and designs by Emma Chammah and Rial Rye. Their visual art practices challenge traditional gallery constructs by creating spaces for empathy and healing often through hands-on interaction with their works.

(Emma)nuelle Chammah

Atlanta-based sculptor and designer (Emma)nuelle Chammah holds a Master of Architecture from Tulane University (2007). Exhibiting her early works in New Orleans, LA and Brooklyn, NY. Emma’s studied at the School of Visual Arts (NYC) where she completed a Digital Sculpture Residency continuing her work in New York and California with agencies in architecture, art fabrication, theatre, and fashion. As an Artist-in Resident at Atlanta Contemporary, she continues her radical exploration of fabric in many forms including wearables, tapestries, and sculptures.

Emma’s consistent engagement as a Contemporary artist leads her to complete residencies throughout the region, including The Hambidge Center and the Penland School of Craft. Notable institutions such as Oceanside Museum of Art, the Atlanta Contemporary, MINT Atlanta, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Georgia and the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC.

Rial Rye

Rial Rye’s Atlanta-based practice leads him to examine how historical record-keeping systems privilege those whose identities fit within their taxonomies. Blurring traditional artistic classifications, Rial employs ancient, contemporary, and futuristic aesthetics that provide opportunities for viewers to explore memory and respond to the often-emotional content of his color-filled works.
A resident artist of Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center, Rye’s works have been displayed in diverse venues across the US including ArtPrize 2023, The Creative Arts Guild of Georgia, The Artistry Workshops and Gallery, The Coca-Cola Company, The Atlanta Department of Cultural Affairs, Steffen Thomas Museum of Art, The Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Furman University, Agnes Scott College, Swan Coach House Gallery, and The City of South Fulton.a grant recipient of the Edge Award from the Forward Arts Foundation (2023), the Susan Antinori Visual Artist Grant from Idea Capital (2024), and the Nexus Fund (2024).
