Classes
Ceramics Classes
Our ceramics program, one of the largest in Georgia, offers high quality ceramics and pottery instruction to artists of all levels.
The ceramics program includes two wheel-throwing studios, two hand-building studios, a glaze room, a kiln room and raku space. The newly expanded kiln building houses 14 kilns, and the adjacent raku area situated in a covered outdoor space, is equipped with two natural gas kilns.
Wheel
Create basic and advanced projects on a potter’s wheel, practicing throwing, trimming, and glazing pieces.
Handbuilding
Practice the art of handbuilding – creating clay pieces using only your hands and basic tools.
Raku
Practice a contemporary take on Raku firing – a Japanese ceramic technique that involves taking hot ceramic pieces from the kiln and immersing them in flammable materials. This process deprives deprives the pieces of oxygen and creates a myriad of unique colors within the glaze, leaving you with a completely one-of-a-kind piece.
