For 24 years now, at the beginning of November, the Spruill Gallery makes an amazing transformation from a traditional gallery space to a festive holiday artists market filled with tons of handcrafted gifts from over 100 local artists. With so much talent in one place, we’d like to take a moment to introduce some of the makers selling their beautiful creations.

Janice Schmidt, instructor at the Spruill Center for the Arts and creator behind Mosaic Goddess and Goddess Rags has been a long time artist of the market. Janice is a mosaic artist who after 20 years of creating beautiful mosaics rediscovered her love for sewing and now produces gorgeous garments in addition to mosaic belt buckles and accessories. By using unique vintage fabrics to create skirts, pants and jackets, and each of Janice’s garments are colorful and storied.  To see Janice’s work online visit

New to the holiday artist market this year is Amanda Proctor. Amanda studied ceramics at the University of Georgia and creates functional pottery as well as ceramic sculpture. We are featuring her wonderful mugs at the market. She has a lovely color palette of blues, greens and natural glazes. What makes her mugs unique is that she hand carves woodland critters, safari animals, and sea creatures, just to name a few, into the side of each mug. For the animal and coffee lover in our life this is a perfect gift! To see more of Amanda’s work online visit

Stop by the gallery to see the work of these two talented artists and so much more. We are open Monday-Saturday 10am-7pm and Sunday 12-5pm.
