Class Schedule

All modeling sessions will be either two or three classes in length.  You will be informed in advance as to the length of the session during which time you will complete at least one painting.

Each painting assignment will encourage exploration of different approaches to use of color, paint application and/or technique.  Class exercises will be geared towards helping you accomplish your own goals.

Any “paint” material is acceptable and should be chosen in response to each modeling session.

Materials

You must have the following in either acrylic or oil paint or any other “color” paint medium (i.e. oil pastels, crayons, pastels):

  • White

  • Cadmium Yellow Light

  • Cadmium Yellow Medium

  • Cadmium Red Light

  • Cadmium Red Medium or Grumbacher Red

  • Alizarin Crimson (Acra Violet)

  • Napthol Crimson

  • Ultramarine Blue

  • Cobalt Blue

  • Pthalocyanine Blue

  • Viridian Green or Pthalocyanine Green

  • Hookers Green

  • Dioxazine Purple

  • Yellow Ocher or Yellow Oxide

  • Burnt Sienna

  • Raw Sienna

  • Burnt Umber

  • Raw Umber

 You will also need:

  • Pencils: HB. B, 2B

  • Erasers

  • Palette at least 16”x20”

  • Palette Knife

  • Containers for water or mineral spirits and paint mediums

  • Mineral spirits and paint mediums as needed

  • Brushes: At least one large flat and several smaller flat and round

  • Prepared paint surface, canvas or canvas board and a sketchbook
