Supply List
| In this class, along with
talks and demos you will be presented with five different
fabrication situations involving the use of different kinds of wire: |
-
Attaching
wire to sheet
-
Building
an open wire (scrollwork) medallion
-
Making a
bezel with twisted wire surrounding it
-
Making a
ring shank out of flat , half-round or other shaped wire
-
Making a
clasp for a 3 strand bead necklace
| It will speed things up a
little if you already have a cabochon stone that you would like to use for a
ring and are able to make a simple bezel (fine silver on 24 ga. sterling
base) ahead of time. If you do this, do not trim the sheet, just
solder the bezel to it with hard solder and stop. If you are unable to do
this before the class, it’s ok.
|
Also bring:
Other materials I will be
using in small quantities in the demos are:
-
24 or 22 ga.
sterling round wire, for the twisted bezel surround
-
Sterling flat
(rectangular) wire for the ring shank, 1mm thick x 5 mm wide
-
Sterling low
dome wire, 3-6mm wide (your preference) for the necklace clasp
-
18 ga.
sterling round wire
-
*If you want
to try making your own wire as will be demonstrated, you will need 4
dwt. or 1/5 oz of sterling casting grain
If you don’t have or
can’t get all of the above just bring what you do have and don’t worry. I
will be bringing some extra wire and you will have plenty to do and take
notes on! I look forward to seeing you at the class!
