Please bring the following to class:
-
Cabochon, oval or round, 10-20mm
diameter or larger, hard material such as quartz, jasper, agate,
chalcedony
-
Faceted stone, 10mm per side or
larger, square, trillion, or other shape with sharp corners.
Recommended materials: quartz (clear, amethyst, citrine), beryl,
garnet, topaz or a good synthetic. The important thing is to use a
hard material (mohs hardness of 7 or above) that is not too
expensive, since this is for practice and not necessarily a finished piece. More

Sharpie fine point marker

Optivisors or other magnifying
glasses. You WILL need to see small things up close!

Safety goggles for grinding tools

#42 flat graver, carbon

small flat-sided mushroom

Pair of dividers

Half round, half flat
all metal pliers

Square and triangular
needle files
- Barrette needle files, coarse (#0) and
fine (#4)
- Hex key 5-8mm diameter with 2.5-3” length
on long side to make your own planishing tool
- Diamond needle file set, for filing
steel, Harbor Freight has them for cheap. Go to store or
order on line.
