Supply List

2B pencil & Eraser Black Sharpie – Extra Fine
Black Crayon White Crayon
Watercolors (a student set like Pentel is fine, they are in tubes – check in the kids’ section) Acrylic Paints * (a student set is like Art Colors is fine. The more colors the better. Check in the kids’ section. )
Brushes (buy a set of 4 or 5 different brushes, check the kids’ section. Look for an assorted set that has flat, bright, and round brushes.) 1 Acrylic Brush, flat size 6 or 8 (this is bigger than in an assorted package. Look in the regular brush section.)
Masking tape Matte Medium (small jar/bottle)
Styrofoam or plastic plates to use as palettes Clean, empty Milk Jug for a water container
Masonite Drawing board, comes in two varieties: one with a handle and clips for easy carrying (around $20), and the other is just a board in varying sizes, no handle or clips (around $5). This is a great idea since all work has to be taken home. On a masonite board it is easier to carry home wet work.
Canvas Pad, 12" x 16"
Watercolor Paper, 12" x 16" (you can buy it in a pad or buy a couple of sheets of paper)
Drawing Paper, 12" x 9" (Spiral bound usually is the best)

Where to Buy the Supplies? Your best bet is a regular Art Supply Shop like Pearl’s, Binder’s, or Dick Blick’s. These shops should have everything you need. Craft shops like Michael’s will have limited supplies and usually are bit more expensive.

Note on Buying Acrylic Paints: I would suggest buying the tube paints in a set. If the set doesn’t have a brown, you will need to buy it separately – Burnt Umber and Raw Umber. If you buy the tubes separately try Liquitex Basics for students. Do not buy the craft stencil acrylics in a bottle. Here are some paint names to look for: Reeves, Art Colors, or Daler Rowney System 3.

A quick note on the different papers – canvas paper is for acrylic paint and can’t work with watercolors and acrylic paint will seep into watercolor paper making it harder for your child to work.

Look for Weekly Emails: Since there are quite a number of different supplies, I will email each week what we will be doing in class for the next lesson so you don’t have to bring everything each week. Keep an eye out!!!

Mark Your Calendars!!!

There will be no class on October 31, Halloween!!!
