Beginning Pastels

Supplies

Nupastel
hard pastels assorted colors – 1 set of 12
-
Rembrandt pastels assorted colors – 1 set 15 (half sticks)
-
Canson Mi-Teintes (or similar brand) pastel paper – pad or pack (8 ½ x
11 or 9 x 12), assorted colors (neutral colors preferred)

Vine Charcoal – 1 small package
-
Small kneaded eraser
-
Drafting tape
-
Sennelier La Carte Pastel Card – 1 sheet (19” x 25”, Sienna, Sand, Light
Gray or other neutral color); trim it into four small sheets

Foam Board or Gator Board – 1 sheet at least 18” x 24” (preferably ½”
thick)

Individual sticks of Unison and/or Schmincke brand pastels (usually run
$3.50 - $4.00 per stick)
Ideal colors to get: light cream yellow, ochre, very dark
blues/purples/greens, very light blue, bright red. (After the class
gets going, you’ll probably want to get a few more.)
Recommended art supply stores: Binders, Dick Blick, Pearl
