Epoxyresin Workshop
Instructor:  Helen Blythe-Hart
hb@helenblythehart.com

We are going to have a blast going color crazy in this workshop. I’ll show you how to mix, then color the epoxy, layer it, add goodies and cure it. We can make earrings, box tops, cabochons, doo-dahs, medallions and more! I’ll be showing you all kinds of techniques and you can use to make really cool things. Epoxy resin is sometimes called cold enamel, so you can get an idea of what the end result will be, except that epoxy is so much more versatile, fun and immediate. Get ready to have some fun!!!

SUPPLIES

NECESSITIES:

q       3-4 tubes (or more) of DEVCON 2-TON CLEAR epoxy glue- I get mine at Walmart or Ace, etc. It can be hard to find, but I’ll have some extras to buy in class. Don’t buy the one with the blue and whitish tubes and please don’t buy or bring other brands of epoxy. Email me if you can’t find it after a few tries.

q       1 tube of DEVCON 5 MINUTE epoxy

q       Pastels- Bring a box of the dry, colorful chalky type, not the oily ones

OPTIONALS

q       Interference pigment powders from Pearl, Binders, etc. These are iridescent powders that look kind of pearly. They come in all sorts of colors, so choose your favorite(s) or share a set with a friend.

q       Powdered pigments, again, pick your favorite colors

q       Metallic powders like gold, brass, copper etc

q       Sterling silver if you want to make something specific on day 2

q       Glitter- colors or iridescent ones, mini stars, hearts etc

q       Postage stamps, small photos, etc. You can wait until after you get the hang of the technique to bring these if they inspire you.

q       Pretty much anything else that is dry or powdered, like sand, spices, small stone chips, the sky’s the limit!!

This can be kind of messy, so be sure to wear studio clothes and please tie long hair back. Remember, no open toed shoes if you plan on soldering anything. We usually go out for a quick lunch, but you can bring your own if you want to. We’re in for some BIG FUN!!!!
