Experimental Drawing Workshop

This workshop will allow the student to explore a variety of drawing mediums and different kinds of mark making in approximately 6-8 drawings during the day.  We will critique during lunch and at the end of the day.  Bring a sack lunch.  If you do not wish to use the entire page, you need to draw off & tape the space before coming to the workshop.  Contact the teacher at the above phone# if you have questions.  I recommend shopping at Binders,  Pearls or Utrecht

SUPPLIES:

PAPER - any of these papers - 

Coventry Rag 22x30,
Lenox 100  26x40 or 22 x 30,
Stonehenge (comes in various tans) 22 x 30,
 - or Stonehenge rising paper in a pad 14 x 17
 - you might want to try other drawing bristol papers - 14 x17

The 22 x 30 will make four sheets and the 14 x 17 you can use as-is

 - if you don’t know know how to tear the paper, please call - this needs to be done before coming to the workshop, you may want to have some of each, Stonehenge soaks up water faster which makes it slightly more delicate, but you get variety in the color

           

            ***The following drawing mediums in black, brown, rust, tan, taupe, raw sienna, gray & white ONLY (you do not have to have every color in every  medium, you want a variety, black & white would be  the most important)

 

WATER SOLUBLE  MEDIUMS

            water soluble colored pencil

            Caran d’ache Neocolor II (water soluble) or Lyra (crayons-water-soluble)

            watersoluble lead pencils

            Ink - ink pens & brushes, mopbrush (loew-cornell #275 & any pointed soft brushes)                                   - higgins, pelican & ** for  the white FW  inks or Speedry   Magic Color only

            India Ink

WATER RESISTANT MEDIUMS

            Cray-pas or any oil pastels you might have

            wax crayons (as in children’s)

            Berol Prismacolor Colored Pencils & Berol Prismacolor Art Stix

            Wax Resist Sticks

                       

REGULAR DRAWING SUPPLIES

            magic markers - sharpies (ultra extra fine & fine), micron pigma 5,8

            rulers - clear

            charcoal - vine, compressed, etc.

            Alphacolor Char-Kole - may want to share a box with someone

            Conte

            Soft Pastels - Rembrant, etc.

            pencils various kinds, woodless pencil, various grades - dark, carpenter pencil

            Graphite square or rectangular - soft                                

            scissors & drafting tape

            Erasers - various kinds                                                       

            Templates

 

12 x 16 High sheen disposable palette or equivalent (Canson or Strathmore poly-coated                                     paper palette  - has a high gloss finish, don’t get one with a hole)

            Sponges

            Printing stamps

            Corrugated cardboard

            Saran wrap

            Cotton balls

            Q-tips

            Straws

            Twigs

            Toothbrush

            Kleenex

            Washcloth

            Wooden match sticks

            Textured fabric

            10 pennies or other coins

            Rubber bands (12 to 15)

            Coarse salt

            Stick-on dots (various sizes)

            Candle & candle holder & matches

            Old magazine (to rip up)

            Plastic knife

            Egg carton or suitable plate to mix ink

            Cup or plastic glass to hold water for ink brushes
