Color Theory Painting Workshop

**** ACRYLIC PAINT ONLY

SUPPLIES:

one pint matte (preferred) or gloss medium (not gel medium)

scissors

3 large rolls (1/2 in. or 3/4 in. x 60 yds) 3M drafting tape

6 pieces 13 in. square Crescent Hot Press illustration board #200 weight or equivalent - already cut and ready  at Binder's

18 in. straightedge - see-thru ( ruler) or T-square

12 x 16 - disposable high sheen palette (for acrylic paint not oil or alkyd - (Canson or  Strathmore poly-coated paper, don’t get one with a hole) 

old cloth to wipe brushes on - cloth is better than paper towels

1/2 in. brush - soft - synthetic (bristles should be about a 1/2 inch long also), you may also get a small pointed brush if you wish

pencil

PAINT: 2 oz. tubes

  • cadmium yellow light

  • yellow oxide or yellow ochre

  • mars black

  • ultramarine blue - red shade or  french ultramarine blue

  • thalo blue or pthalo blue - green shade

  • Quinacridone Crimson by Liquitex or Quinacra Red by Utrecht only  or thalo crimson by Grumbacher     

  • cadmium red light

  • napthol crimson

  • thalo green or pthalo green - blue shade

  • dioxzine purple

  • titanium white - a large tube (do not buy liquitex basic)

  • hookers green

  • raw sienna

  • thio violet by Grumbacher

 

I recommend Liquitex, Grumbacher, Golden or Utrecht, they all make clear colors.

I recommend shopping at Binders, Pearls or Utrecht.
